Before I became so active, I was settling into middle age and winding down. Now, I have a whole new outlook on life. I’m strong, fit and have lost 60 pounds. I’m running alongside people in their 20s and 30s and keeping up with them. But it took a wake up call to get me in gear. When my younger brother died of a heart attack I feared the same thing could happen to me unless I did something to get my weight – and my health – under control.
I signed up for KP’s Biggest Loser Program where I met a great group of people who inspired and supported me in getting fit.
I decided to train for the swimming portion of the LA Triathlon and astounded myself by completing a half-mile ocean swim in huge waves. Recently, I ran 15 miles of a 170-mile relay race and next time, I’ll tackle a 20-mile stretch.
I’m definitely not ready for the couch - or to slow down! These are the best years and I intend to enjoy them and feel good.
