Panorama City Celebrates the Conclusion of the 30-Day Challenge
On Wednesday, June 2, in Panorama City hundreds of physicians and employees celebrated the conclusion of the 30-Day Challenge with a Fit Festival and self-paced Thrive K Walk. The Fit Festival included Kaiser Permanente Health Education and local vendors such as:
- 24 Hour Fitness
- Bicycle John’s
- Fit Orbit
- LA Fitness
- Mid-Valley YMCA
- Phidipidies
- The Walking Company
- Whole Foods
They provided resources, recipes and products for healthy eating and active living. In conjunction with the Fit Festival, physicians and staff also walked the “Thrive K” path around the Panorama City medical center. The 30-Day Challenge began on May 3 to encourage physicians and staff to adopt a healthier lifestyle and maintain motivation for 30 straight days. The challenge included making small, daily changes to improve overall well-being. Resources such as access to online goal-setting tools, health information and recipes, and free trial gym memberships were provided to participants. “This was a great way to encourage physicians and employees to adopt a healthier lifestyle,” adds Panorama City Assistant Medical Director Richard Silverstein, MD. “Little changes really can make a big difference.”
To support physician and staff fitness goals, the Panorama City Thrive Room—a 24/7 exercise room— opened on May 3. Located on the first floor of the Central Medical Office Building just inside the Cantara Street entrance, the room includes strength training equipment, a yoga/stretch area, and cardio equipment.
